AFTER PRIMARY WIN, EAVES A STEP CLOSER TO BRINGING A NEW DAY TO MISSISSIPPI

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Governors Association (DGA) Chair Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius today issued the following statement congratulating John Eaves on becoming the Democratic nominee for governor in Mississippi.

“John Eaves’ victory tonight shows that voters are excited about his plans to make Mississippi stronger. With John Eaves as the Democratic nominee for governor, Mississippians will have an opportunity to vote for someone who will be on their side.

“As John shares his vision with people across the state, voters see a leader of strong faith and compassion. His deeply-rooted values are solidly in line with those of Mississippi families, and his message focuses on people rather than politics. As governor, John will expand access to health care, strengthen schools, create jobs and rebuild the Gulf Coast.

“The stakes in this race are high, and John is the kind of leader who has what it takes to win. That’s why tonight’s victory brings hard-working families a step closer to welcoming a new day for Mississippi.”
